Expectations

As I have had experience before, I knew that it would be difficult, because writing music is never easy.  I've always had trouble pleasing my band director with my music, so I'm hoping that with this piece of music I will be able to make him be proud of me.  Some more of my troubles with writing music are transitions.  Transitions are so hard to connect one part of the music to the next smoothly and effectively.

I feel like I should take some time to talk about how I write my music.  Usually, I come up with melodies in my head, use my perfect pitch to find the notes, and write them down on manuscript paper before actually writing it online.  It's very effective, and it helps me mark down the melodies of my songs.  The next thing is finding the background, or harmony, to the melody.  This is where I have more trouble, because I have been told many times before that chord progression is my biggest weakness.  If I try to focus more on chord progressions, it'll help make the best out of my music, and will also not only make me happy, but also make my band director happy.

I've shown so many of my friends my music, and all of them have said that it's really good.  Now this might be them being more biased towards me, but it really helps grow my confidence as a composer.  I've thought about bringing back an old song that I have abandoned freshman year and finishing it (I only have one little melody and that's literally it), entitled "Wrath".  Let's see how this goes.
